It is important to continue with the correct supplementation of our daily diet, as well as our pet's, in an effort to support overall health.

Designing Health's Commitment to Quality
Designing Health's high quality standards are an inherent part of everything Designing Health does, assuring that Designing Health's product is of the highest quality and is absolutely safe for humans and companion animals.
Designing Health's Company's efforts are constantly directed toward complying with AAFCO, FDA and USDA regulations. The USDA and FDA Health Department audit our facility on a regular basis. Therefore, all of Designing Health's products are manufactured under strict "Good Manufacturing Practices," and are in compliance with US Food and Drug Administration's CGMP's Regulation 21 CFR 110 and USDA Regulation 21 CFR 589.2000.
To accomplish this, Designing Health's Quality Control Department has implemented comprehensive and thorough process specifications and controls. Testing is a critical part of Designing Health's quality process. The first quality control step is to obtain Product Data Sheets, MSDS's (Material Safety Data Sheets), and COA's (Certificates of Analysis) on each ingredient. Special requirements have to be met before new suppliers are approved. Designing Health ensures that they are using ingredients that are of the highest quality (nutrient rich and microbiologically safe). For certain ingredients, this can be a long-term process before final approval for use in Designing Health products.
Subsequent steps include microbiological and chemical testing of incoming raw materials prior to their acceptance, testing of incoming supplies (such as packaging etc.), testing of each premix made, and of each lot of finished product produced. These tests also include environmental pre-operational testing of production equipment by ATP Bioluminescence, ensuring completed sanitation. All steps are carefully documented.
During Designing Health's production process, Designing Health doesn't use any kind of pasteurization, sterilization, or heat. No preservatives are involved and/or included in any of Designing Health's ingredients. The reason for this is that Designing Health doesn't want to cause degradation and/or destruction of naturally occurring nutrients (such as proteins, fatty acids, enzymes, and traces of vitamins and minerals) in Designing Health products.
Production and Quality Assurance teamwork programs, procedures and comprehensive training are a part of Designing Health's program of dedication to achieving uniformity in quality for every lot of finished product produced.
No products leave Designing Health's plant before they have passed all required screening steps. Designing Health's Quality Control Department has the ability to track each individual ingredient used in any particular lot of finished product, ensuring that Designing Health's product is safe and of the highest quality.
The Designing Health Story
Dr. Robert M. Collett, founder of Designing Health, grew up in Colorado where his love of animals started at a very young age. His passion for animals and their health led him to study veterinary medicine at Colorado State University. After graduation, Dr. Collett moved to Southern California and over the next 40 plus years he developed one of the most successful practices in the Western States.
In the early 1990s, Dr. Collett began research into the degenerative disease processes observed in his patients. These loving companions had the same medical conditions and sufferings that humans struggle within their lifetime. His research uncovered a number of nutritional deficiencies caused by the highly processed modern pet food diet. He discovered modern pet foods were completely void of omega-3 fatty acid. The omega-6 fatty acid in pet foods was of such poor quality from processing that it did more harm than good. The quality of these important fatty acids can either promote health or cause it to deteriorate.
Further studies convinced Dr. Collett that there was a nutritional gap from what animals fed on in the wild, nutritionally dense, whole, raw and fresh foods, and the modern commercially processed pet foods. Dr. Collett developed and patented cold processing methods and supplement formulas for pets targeting this nutritional gap. He gave these formulations to his patients with health issues and recorded the remarkable results over the course of several months. Dr. Collett donated his time and expertise working with the city of Los Angeles animal shelters and zoos around the country to improve animal health for which he earned a number of commendations.
Word of these remarkable supplements spread like wildfire and The Missing Link Superfood Supplements were launched! Business grew fast at the Collett Veterinary Clinic because Dr. Collett was treating the root cause of major health concerns along with treating the symptoms.
Desigining Health incorporated in 1994 to manufacture and market The Missing Link line of pet supplements worldwide. The Missing Link Superfood Supplements are available for Birds, Dogs, Cats and Horses. The Missing Link Plus was added in 2001 to address joint health issues in senior animals. In 2009, the company launched a new Puppy Health Formula to promote and support healthy growth and development.
