About Elemental Herbs
ALL GOOD, FROM THE ROOTS UP
Elemental Herbs started with a simple, beautiful vision, best described by its name: to harness the natural powers of the environment's purest, most elemental ingredients and organic herbs in order to offer natural healing products that are good for people and good for the earth.
The mission began with owner Caroline Duell, a massage therapist and outdoor enthusiast who wanted to start a company that would connect nature and healing. She first developed what was to become All Good Goop healing balm from a northern California organic family farm where she lived and worked. The five plants that landed in All Good Goop were chosen for their medicinal properties while they also survived harsh winds and thrived together on a steep hillside. Blended together in a healing balm, they proved strong enough to fight the dry skin of cracked carpenter's hands, and gentle enough to heal a rash on a baby's bottom.
Caroline was humbled by the response to this magical healing balm from friends and family who raved that All Good Goop was the only thing that helped just about any wound or skin ailment. So, after giving it away for years, she decided to grow more organic herbs and share this coveted natural healing product with the world. Soon after, All Good Lips lip balm was born to fulfill a request for a version that fit in ski jacket pockets.
From that point, it was all history. Elemental Herbs now offers a diverse line of organically grown, plant-based formulas that smell good, feel good, and are practical and useful for everyday needs. From skin repair and lip care to sun protection and fast pain relief, the products' ingredients stay true to the company's roots by always putting the planet first.
Elemental Herbs is now based at Four Elements Farm, located near Morro Bay, California. One percent of all revenues from Elemental Herbs' natural healing products and holistic remedies is dedicated to fighting for social and environmental justice around the world. ESSENTIAL HERBS' COMMITMENT
As a nature-based healing company, Elemental Herbs is forever grateful for the earth's abundant resources. They it as their duty to care for them in the same way they care for our own bodies. That's why they are dedicated to using restorative and responsible business practices.
- Elemental Herbs production facility runs on solar power. That's right – Elemental Herbs makes All Good Goop in the Morro Bay Community Center's kitchen, which gets its electricity from photovoltaic panels on the building's rooftop.
- Elemental Herbs Company headquarters are an organic farm and education center. Just up the road, inland from Morro Bay, Four Elements Farm is where their offices reside. The farm is a 55-acre parcel with orchards, gardens, composting toilets and a straw-bale greenhouse. They do residential Permaculture Design Courses once a year, and they host WWOOF'rs (willing workers on organic farms) and farm interns year round.
- Their team is their family. They are a small company, and as they grow, they want their team to grow with them. They create a fun and healthy environment for employees, and encourage them to care for themselves and their families first. They support them in their own nourishing pursuits.
- Elemental Herbs uses certified organic ingredients in their products and seek the highest possible medicinal quality in all of their herbs. By purchasing organically grown herbs, oils and raw materials, they are ensured that their ingredients were not poisoned with harmful pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers. All ingredients are sourced for their quality and sustainability and are always organic when available. Going a step beyond organic on their own farm and "herbal test garden," they are committed to wild land farming that protects wildlife habitat, conserves water, attracts beneficial insects and birds, and builds healthy soil for the future.
- Elemental Herbs products are cruelty-free, tested on consenting humans only. Millions of animals, including birds, dogs, fish, guinea pigs, mice, rabbits, rats, and even monkeys, are tortured and killed for the (often inconclusive) testing of consumer products. Elemental Herbs has signed the campaign for cruelty free cosmetics and partners with membership affiliates like the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (Leaping Bunny) to spread the word. Please support companies who don't test on animals.
- Elemental Herbs actively opposes the use of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) and finds suppliers who are in compliance with this. GMOs wreak havoc on our agricultural and natural systems. By introducing genetically modified organisms into the environment, corporate seed producers have unleashed a self-replicating monster that cannot be recalled. Elemental Herbs will always find sources of raw materials that do not contain GMOs.
- Elemental Herbs uses recycled and recyclable packaging, shipping and printed materials. Yeah! they are excited for more companies to jump on this wagon because one day, it will be less expensive to purchase paper that does not destroy virgin forests, pollute rivers with chlorine, and end up in a landfill. In the meantime, they are committed to finding new materials all the time that actually have a positive impact on the earth throughout their lifecycle. Elemental Herbs recognizes that we have a long way to go here, and they will not ever stop looking for better packaging solutions.
- Elemental Herbs company vehicles run on biodiesel. At their company headquarters and farm, they produce biodiesel made from restaurant waste vegetable oil. When they are on the road, they search for biodiesel pumps and co-ops. Elemental Herbs thinks veggie fuel is an important interim step for transportation because it significantly reduces CO2 emissions, it contains almost no sulfur (major component of acid rain), it is a renewable resource, and we don't need to bomb sovereign nations to obtain it.
- Elemental Herbs maintains relationships with suppliers and manufacturers who have high environmental standards and take care of their employees. The impact they have goes all the way down the line; from production to end use. The companies they work with are allies in producing eco-friendly, organic and fairly traded goods.
- As a triple bottom line business, their commitment to social and environmental responsibility is audited through their partnership with B Corporation. Elemental Herbs is also a member of the sustainable business network, Green America.
- Elemental Herbs gives one percent of all sales, before any expenses to important global causes through 1% for the Planet. Their current partners receiving Elemental Herbs' revenue donations are Save Our Snow and United Plant Savers.
- Elemental Herbs sponsors Activist Athletes. Learn more about their human-powered sponsorship program.
- They laugh a lot! Elemental Herbs recognizes the need for lighthearted humor in the midst of it all and they cherish absurdity in daily life. Sharing smiles and laughter is a great way to positively impact our environment and our health. It's easy.
